GROUP PRESENTATION  HOW TO WRITE EFFECTIVE CLASSROOM MATERIALS The main aim of this presentation was to do a 20 minutes lesson in which we should present our students (classmates) the teacher and trainer Rachael Roberts and her conference about how to write effective classroom materials.  The lesson was structured in three main parts. The first minutes were dedicated to present the central ideas through a Prezi presentation. The second activity was a Kahoot which provided students with some of the vocabulary and knowledge needed for the main task. And finally, we did the main activity which consists in creating a youtube video such as a haul or a make up tutorial. In this way, students had to prepare the video in groups and then they had to perform and record it. After that, they had to upload the video in a Facebook Group ("How to write effective classroom materials?") which was created for this lesson. At the end, we watched all the videos and students voted ...

ASSIGNMENT 4 ACTIVITIES FOR STRATEGIC INVESTMENT AND TO LOWER ANXIETY IN THE CLASSROOM Today, we are going to talk about a program known as "Aulas Felices" that has to do with Positive Psychology applied to education. One of the main aims of Positive Psychology is happiness. Thus, applying this psychology to education consists in preparing students for develop their positive aspects, their personal fortitude and their present and future welfare.  Regarding the activities for strategic investment and to lower anxiety in the classroom presented by this program ("Aulas Felices") we can highlight three.  The first activity is called "The clouds' shape" which consists in developing students' imagination through visual stimulus. In this activity, students have to lie down in the ground (playground, park) and observe the shape of the clouds. If the students find any similarity between a cloud and any figure, animal or thing, they sh...

ASSIGNMENT 3 ASKING QUESTIONS (CLASSROOM PEDAGOGICS) The aim of this assignment is to explain which aspects we might consider when asking questions in the classroom (classroom pedagogics).  Firstly, I would like to focus on what the term classroom pedagogics means. This concept refers to the so called "interactive" phase of the teaching process in which the teacher has to interact on the classroom with the pupils. In this process, the teacher has to make decisions on the spur of the moment as well as to pay attention to smaller goals than the grander "aims of the lesson". This means that a previously formulated plan does not help.  Regarding to the aspects we might consider when asking questions in the classroom, we need to take into account that we should ask students the right kind of questions in an effective way. Thus, when we focus on the right kind of questions we have to differentiate between referential and display questions....

MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES SELF-ASSESSMENT Today I am going to  upload my results of the Multiple Intelligences Test.  But what are the Multiple Intelligences? Howard Gardner identified seven distinct intelligences. According to him, "we are all able to know the world through language, logical-mathematical analysis, spatial representation, musical thinking, the use of the body to solve problems or to make things, an understanding of other individual, and an understanding of ourselves. Where individuals differ is in the strength of these intelligences - the so-called profile of intelligences - and in the ways in which such intelligences are invoked and combined to carry out different tasks, solve diverse problems, and progress in various domains".  However, Gardner's theory challenges the educational system as he considered that everyone cannot learn the same materials in the same way.  My results in the test are:  Thus, according to the test,...

ASSIGNMENT 2 TEACHING TECHNIQUES: SCAFFOLDING AND DIFFERENTIATION The objective of this assignment is to present two activities based on the teaching techniques of Scaffolding and Differentiation. The first one, SCAFFOLDING,  might be used in a reading activity in which the teacher will pre-teach and provide the students with the vocabulary that they are not supposed to know. In this way, when the students read the text, they will feel more comfortable. In the second technique, DIFFERENTIATION,  the teacher gives the students the freedom to choose how they want to perform an assignment. For instance, if they have to write an essay about environment, students could write just an essay or they could create a comic, deliver an oral presentation and so on.  In my opinion, both teaching techniques are really useful as the first one,  Scaffolding,  adds support and builds a bridge upon what the students already ...
